2018 Walt Disney World 5K – Marathon Weekend

2018 Walt Disney World 5K – Marathon Weekend

On Thursday, January 4, 2018, some 15,000 runners participated in a very cold, very crowded, yet very fun 5K at Epcot at Walt Disney World.

This was one of the coldest race starts on record for runDisney.
Florida’s frozen Farenheit is the theme for this video.
It affected everything from the batteries on my GoPro hero 6 Black, to my ability to speak and think during this run.
The course took participants on a tour of the Epcot parking lot, World Showcase, back stage areas and Future World before crossing the Finish Line.

This was one of the hardest video for me to produce… mostly because of operator error. I, mistakenly, set the ProTune settings to 1600 Min ISO and 60 fps/low light which made editing incredibly difficult ~ especially for someone as visually impaired as me. I used Neat Video’s noise reduction plug-in. While it worked well, it did soften much of the video and slowed the encoding/render time dramatically. It took 7 hours to encode this 9 and a half minute video!!!!

For this video I used the GoPro Hero 6, a Feigyu Tech G5 (for more steady running video) and a Tascam DR-10 for clean sound … which GoPro has yet to resolve.

Up next: 2018 WDW 10K

A Special Thanks to my running buddy Scott who kept an eye on me during this race.
