Catching the 10,000th baseball of my streak in Monterrey, Mexico
The last time I attended a Major League Baseball game and FAILED to get at least one ball was September 2, 1993. Eight days after that, I snagged one, and I’ve never gone home empty-handed since.
This game at the Monterrey Baseball Stadium, played on May 6, 2018, was the final day of MLB’s Mexico Series between the Dodgers and Padres. Thankfully the weather stayed dry, both teams took batting practice, and I had an amazing time. I snagged a total of 20 baseballs (a record for an international MLB game), and the first one was No. 10,000 of my consecutive games streak. Note: In the early 1990s, I snagged several hundred baseballs before the streak began, so my lifetime total at the end of my trip to Mexico was 10,337.
